Byron White, Ed.D

Dr. Byron D. White is a distinguished educator, leader, author, and transformational speaker whose life’s work has been dedicated to developing excellence in young people and communities. A proud product of the Florida African American Student Association (FAASA) pipeline, Dr. White’s leadership journey began early as a former FAASA student and Black Student Union President at the formerly named Broward Community College (1989). These formative experiences helped shape his lifelong commitment to leadership, cultural consciousness, and service. 

 

Dr. White is a proud graduate of Florida A&M University (1992), where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He later advanced his academic credentials with a Master of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education from Georgia State University and ultimately earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Instructional Leadership. His academic foundation reflects a rare blend of engineering precision, mathematical rigor, and educational leadership expertise. 

 

Over a career spanning more than three decades, Dr. White has served in multiple impactful roles across education. He is a retired high school administrator, having led and supported major instructional and operational initiatives in large urban school systems, including serving as Principal of Westlake High School and Assistant Principal at D.M. Therrell High School and BEST Academy. His leadership responsibilities included managing multimillion-dollar budgets, supervising large instructional teams, and implementing innovative academic programs that improved student outcomes and school performance . 

 

In addition to his administrative leadership, Dr. White has served as an adjunct college mathematics professor, teaching undergraduate and graduate-level mathematics courses. His instructional approach emphasizes higher-order thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application, equipping students with both academic competence and intellectual confidence. Throughout his career, he has also worked as a mathematics instructional specialist and consultant, supporting curriculum development, teacher effectiveness, and student achievement. 

 

Beyond the classroom and schoolhouse, Dr. White is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, an experience that continues to influence his disciplined, mission-driven philosophy on leadership, personal development, and financial empowerment. His approach to developing men and personal finance coaching are grounded in structure, accountability, and intentional living. 

 

Currently, Dr. White is an author, public speaker, and personal finance coach, focused on empowering individuals in particularly young men and educators, to build disciplined lives and achieve financial independence. He is the author of Man Up or Move Out the Way: The Code for Manhood Development, a work centered on character, responsibility, and purpose-driven living. His speaking engagements and coaching initiatives emphasize leadership development, financial literacy, and generational wealth-building strategies. 

 

Dr. White’s life mission is to develop leaders who think critically, act intentionally, and build legacies that extend beyond themselves. His journey from FAASA student leader to nationally impactful educator and mentor serves as a powerful testament to the enduring impact of the actualized aims, goals, and mission of FAASA. 

 

Dr. White is a member of the Omicron Phi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, Incorporated. He is married to Anece Baxter-White (Lead Forensic Attorney for the United States Army Crime Investigation Lab, (Georgia). He and his wife are the proud parents of two FAMU students, Bryce Omar White and Braelynn Salema White.
